Ys Book I improvement patch for SMS released
22 August 2009 11:33PM EST - Update by kingofcrusher
This is a patch that adds the FM Sound capability back into Ys for the Sega Master System that was taken out when it was translated into English for the US and Europe. In Japan the FM Sound module was originally an optional hardware upgrade for the Sega Mark III (basically the same exact thing we got as the Sega Master System), so many games like Ys supported not only regular PCM music but also the vastly superior FM Sound module. When the games were ported to other territories the FM Sound capability was usually disabled or completely removed.
I’ve also changed all the names back to their proper Ys names, so no more playing through the whole game as ARON instead of Adol.

Binary City is action-puzzle game combining heavily modified engine of original Battle City with tactical puzzles and unconventional tasks.
Basically the game develops Binary Land’s premise of controlling two characters simultaneously. But as every level brings new gameplay twists, the game quickly becomes something really different from what you’d expect.
Yugekitai Kakuto Hen ~Saikyou Kami Fukkatsu Yuki Kan ~ Translation Complete
10 August 2009 10:40AM EST - Update by ramkhamhaeng
My first translation hack is complete. This game is a pretty good doujin fighting game for the PC-98, with some pretty unconventional characters. The VS mode is pretty fun if you have controllers.
Storyline is based off the first game in the Yugekitiai adventure game series by TKO Soft. I would like to mention that I still need a translator for the first one in the series. Is anyone interested?

Zero Tolerance Level Editor
18 July 2009 10:13PM EST - Update by Neil
Hat tip to Zophar’s Domain’s Message Board and Inverse for pointing out a new level editor. Quote from the author’s post on ZMD:
Hi everyone. About 10 years ago I used to play this game, and there was one thing bothering me - I always wanted to get into those rooms that have no entrances :D. Recently I found out that the game’s now freeware so I got the ROM and enjoyed it again, still interested in those closed rooms. I’ve been searching for a level editor or even just a viewer but couldn’t find any, so I decided to make one myself. Initially I didn’t plan to make any public releases but thought maybe someone has also been looking for such an editor, and here it is :D Doesn’t have all of the planned features yet, so this is not a final release. For now it has viewing and basic editing features. You can get it here (didn’t have any site so I had to create this one to host the editor, nothing else’s there for now). Some editing instructions are in the readme file included in the archive. Please pm or email me for any feature requests, questions or in case you found any glitches. Hope this will be useful for someone
P.S. The editor only supports ROMs in .BIN format so you need to use an SMD to BIN converter. I might add support for SMD in future releases, if requested.[
Mega Man - Maverick Revenge! Out for download!
14 July 2009 3:23PM EST - Update by Micke
The hack of Mega Man 4 - Maverick Revenge is finnished and ready to be downloaded as an IPS file at http://acmlm.no-ip.org/uploader/get.php?id=1738
This is the first time I have tried to edit a game, and with zero programming skills it wasn’t easy. But with some help from MegaFLE X and Matrix I was able to anyway. There are some KNOWN bugs in this hack, but like I said, because of limited knowledge of ASM I wasn’t able to fix everything.
Don’t get confused by the name, it doesn’t have anything to do with the Mavericks. There is no story line in this game, no intro or anything. It’s just a game!
Happy gaming! :)
