Vs. Super Mario Bros. - Home Edition -

04 March 2013 10:54AM EST - Update by BMF54123

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

Vs. Super Mario Bros. is the arcade version of Super Mario Bros., released on the NES-based Vs. System hardware in 1986. It features altered stage and enemy layouts, increased difficulty, configurable extra life and timer speed settings, and a high score table.

This patch allows the game to be run on a standard MMC1 cart with 8KB SRAM. No custom hardware required!

It also adds the following features:

  • Pre-game menu that allows you to set dipswitches and reset the high scores
  • High score retention (when using battery-backed SRAM)
  • Correct NES colors (Vs. hardware used RGB PPUs with scrambled colors)

The patch has been tested on the PowerPak and works flawlessly. It should also work on any other flash cart or copier with MMC1 support.

Hebereke English Translation v1.0

02 March 2013 10:50PM EST - Update by BMF54123

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

Hebereke is a rather silly non-linear platformer by Sunsoft, released on the Famicom in 1991. It plays similarly to Blaster Master or Metroid, in that you must traverse a rather large world in search of new characters and powerups in order to access new areas. The game was popular enough that it spawned an entire series, and Hebe (the main character) remained Sunsoft’s mascot in Japan for much of the 1990s. The game was released in Europe and Australia in 1992 under the title Ufouria, with significant changes made to the story and two of the main characters; a U.S. release was planned, but eventually cancelled.

This patch completely translates all of the dialogue, including the intro and ending sequences, and fixes a couple of bugs present in the original game. It has been tested on the PowerPak and works flawlessly with the latest mapper files.

Pandamar: Famiclone Mario as a panda!

01 March 2013 12:40PM EST - Update by Nerd42

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

Pandamar is an extremely rare Famiclone version of Super Mario Bros 1 (NES) that makes Mario look like a panda with a really bizarre but cute appearance, now released for the first time as an IPS patch. Changes nearly all the graphics in the game. Also includes really annoying repetitive original music. Can be combined with other Super Mario Bros patches to create strange hybrid versions.

Pokemon - Ultra Violet Version

21 February 2013 1:01AM EST - Update by LocksmithArmy

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

Building on the success (or failure) of Red and Gold (Emu Edition), A new game has come to fruition…

This new Pokemon game (a Fire Red Hack) is very similar to the Fire Red story, with some major improvements…

All first and second generation Pokemon are obtainable… and not just catchable… you can actually evolve without trading… Haunter evolves by level… so you can train your Gastly into a Gengar, instead of being forced to stop at Haunter and catch a wild Gengar (as in my previous hack and several others).

Mew is obtainable EARLY… so he is actually usable as a team member instead of a trophy legendary.

New events have been added and new maps, some new text… and a Catch Your First Pokemon event… simply talk to Oak without picking one of his 3 Pokeballs and you will be offered the chance to catch your starter.

There is a major update (1.2) in the works, adding all gen 3 Pokemon to a NEW island…

Stand Guard has been updated

20 February 2013 9:40AM EST - Update by Spooniest

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

Stand Guard is now version 4.0. Text has been overhauled from version 3.1 and many lines were edited. Look specifically in this version for the full libretto to Aria Di Mezzo Caraterre.

Additionally, the Sprint Shoes were changed to the Wingboots, which give stat boosts, and Tina starts with a Ward Bangle equipped, so there is an option for reduced encounters.

There’s an LP going on here.
