I made an unfair review before based on some super subjective issues I had. The author reached out to me to not only thank me for my lack of recommendation but offered to even help me make the changes to make it what I wanted (I had done this before but some of the newer changes would have taken a lot more time to revert/change). But I was not being honest with myself that I wouldn't recommend the romhack after I literally followed it for 2 years on the forum. It deserves recommendations even if its to use as a base for your own personal changes.

Namco X Capcom Betatesting Phase Starts!

24 January 2008 6:16PM EST - Update by saito

Translations News

Hi, for those that did not know about it, we are doing a full translation for Namco X Capcom.

The translation percentage it’s nearly 100%, so right now, we are in need of some feedback in order to fix some annoying glitches within the game.

Because of that, we are holding an application thread in our forums, so if you want to apply to be a betatester, please, click here.

We will pick as many people as we may need. 4 or 5 should be a good number of extra-betatesters to ensure a good clean up of the glitches and errors.

The application’s thread will be closed February the 7th.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Final Fantasy Tactics Editor Released!

22 January 2008 6:44PM EST - Update by azidahaka

Utilities News

Some time ago, a guy called zodiac posted here saying that he was working on editing and hacking FFT. Now, thanks to his efforts and melonhead’s coding, the first FFT editor for windows is out.

So far the following are editable:

  • Class/Abilities
  • Skill sets
  • Class opening requirements
  • Damage and item formulas
  • HP, MP, PA, MA, Speed, growth, and multipliers
  • Monsters skills and stats
  • game battles
  • items and item’s effects

That’s what can be done so far. Future possibilities in the works (and we may need some help):

  • sprite editing (we need to figure out some compression problems in part of spr files)
  • text editing (text placement and hex chars are figured out already, we need a tool for editing)
  • map editing

For more info head to auritech.eu! We are always in need of help, and suggestions are always welcome (as is hacking help)!

Download it HERE.

AGTP Updates on Live-a-Live

14 January 2008 2:18AM EST - Update by I.S.T.

Translations News

Gideon Zhi has posted an update for Live-A-Live at AGTP.

“It´s taken a whole lot longer than anyone could have predicted, but I think we´ve finally fixed all of the little niggling technical issues. One particularly nasty one, just resolved, would corrupt your save data and replace characters with multiple Oersteds.

The scripts are all edited save for the final chapter, but of course due to that previously-mentioned save corruption, I need to restart the game from the beginning. Provided a speedy replay and no further technical problems (and maybe some wrangling with SNES9X´s cheat engine) an in-house betatest should be coming pretty soon, with a release following shortly thereafter. No promises, though! We thought the technicals had been resolved last September, but look how wrong we were!”

Chrono Trigger: Prophet's Guile Released

14 January 2008 2:16AM EST - Update by ZeaLitY

ROM Hacks News

Chrono Trigger: Prophet’s Guile is a new story following Magus’s turbulent experience in Zeal as he dons the guise of the Prophet, curries favor with the Queen, and prepares for his second attempt at exacting revenge on Lavos. It’s full of graphical, level, sound, and design polishes and surprises, reflecting the cutting edge in Trigger hacking. The expanded ROM freezes in SNES9x at some point, so stick with ZSNES for the time being; sorry. It’s about two or three regular Trigger chapters long, and the first Chrono Trigger hack with a new story.

Rockboard Translation: COMPLETE!

01 January 2008 9:22AM EST - Update by Dr. Cossack

Translations News

After several years of efforts, one of the few Mega Man games never available in English has been fully translated: Wily & Light’s Rockboard: That’s Paradise!!

Rockboard is a NES game build around a concept similar to Monopoly: you and a few other players (humans or computers) duke it out to buy lots, build labs and run your opponents into bankruptcy on four game boards. The game was originally released in 1993 in Japan only, and no fan-made translations have been completed until now.

Two patches are available within the same download archive: one keeps the original Japanese names (such as Rockman), while the other brings everything up to date with the North American releases (with Mega Man and friends).

Information, screenshots and the download file are all available on the Mega Man PC Website: Dr. Cossack’s Lab.

Staff Note: You can find the translation archived on RHDN here.
