Silva Saga II Romanian version released!

After about a year of hard work, Silva Saga II has finally been fully translated in Romanian! This means that you can now either grab the patch here at RHDN or at Dynamic-Designs, your choice. The game has been completely translated and should work well on most SNES emulators. But if you’re using Zsnes, make sure it’s the latest version (1.51) to avoid some minor graphical glitches that seem to randomly occur with the older versions. Dynamic-Designs will continue to bring you high quality translations in both English and other languages as well, so stay tuned!
Final Fantasy Zz Hard Type (Version 1.8)

One year after its previous release, the latest version of Final Fantasy Zz Hard Type (Version 1.8) is now available for download. For those unfamiliar with this, FFZz is a considerably more difficult version of Final Fantasy for the NES. FFZz offers new weapons, buffed enemies, new magic spells, revised text dialogues, new enemy formations, and redesigned dungeons. Even though almost every team is required to be at Level 50 in order to beat this hack, it never feels like grinding.
Final Fantasy Zz also offers numerous enhancements and bugfixes. The critical hit bug, Black Belt armor bug, door bug, invisible character bug, enemy magic bug, double-level up bug, broken spell bugs (SABR, HEL2, XFER, LOCK, etc.) and all other known bugs have been fixed. There are also some enhancements, including being able to dash by holding the B-button, being able to buy 9 potions at a time, being able to see the contents of a treasure chest even if your inventory is full, moving Heal Potions to the top of your inventory to make them easier to use, not rearranging poisoned characters after a battle, and increased spell capacity for anyone who can use magic. Other enhancements and bug fixes are listed in the hack’s readme.
Even though Version 1.0 was a lot of fun to play, there was a bit of wasted potential, particularly regarding the Temple of Fiends Revisited. Some of the monsters also could have benefited from further tweaked stats. This resulted in the release of Version 1.1 in April 2013. That version was superior to 1.0, but it introduced some unanticipated bugs regarding the wrong enemies appearing in the northwestern corner of the northwestern continent and around Matoya’s Cave. The fights against the later fiends were also still unacceptably underwhelming. The TOFR still was not quite right and needed to have a way of accessing Chaos without having to spend an hour just fighting your way to him. However, the shortcut introduced in 1.1 overcorrected by making accessing Chaos a bit too easy. Version 1.51 remedied these issues by including new treasure chests, even more difficult enemies, an improved Red Mage, and more difficult fights against the late-game bosses. However, this version still left untapped potential on the table and may have even frustrated well-intentioned players who were unaware of this hack’s difficulty.
UPDATE: MARCH 2015
A new version of FFZz addresses these deficiencies and makes the game even more fun to play. Some of the changes include the following:
1. You can now see which enemy formations are unrunnable without trial and error. This should greatly aid your battle strategies.
2. The contents of several treasure chests were changed or improved.
3. Some magic spells were strengthened or moved around. Access to some spells was gained or taken away, particularly for the Red Mage and Red Wizard.
4. Several monster stats have changed. There are also a few new battle formations. Enemies are also worth less gold, especially near the end of the game.
5. There are some new weapons and pieces of armor. Some of the stats of existing equipment have been changed.
6. Some of the dungeons received slight redesigns.

After extensive playtesting and debugging, Version 1.8 of this hack is probably as good as a hard-type Final Fantasy hack is going to get. The original Final Fantasy pales in comparison to this. Final Fantasy Zz has been downloaded over 1000 times as of this writing, and there are at least three different sets of videos on YouTube of people playing the game. It’s gotten great reviews. One person has even called it the Final Fantasy equivalent of Legend of Zelda Outlands in terms of quality.

A year and a half ago, in order to finish my hack much faster, I’ve created a secret message board for my hack in development. It was meant at first as a workplace for me, Puzzledude and Euclid as secret hideout for us to concentrate on all the features and aspects of this hack without the need of sending multiple emails between each of us.
Overtime, I’ve invited other people currently making Zelda 3 hacks and eventually it simply became an enormous resource/help for hacking this game! Pretty much everyone contributed something, whether it is documents, asm patches, small hacks… Anything that could help us change other aspects of this game beyond Hyrule Magic. Called ”Zeldix”, it could be almost regarded as the vatican secret archives, only that it’s meant for Zelda 3 modding instead!
People say, that sharing is caring.. so today, it is my great pleasure to make it open to the general public! I’m hoping that by doing so, it’ll give greater hopes to people who think that Zelda 3 hacking in general has been hibernating! Far from that actually, we just have been working in secret ;) If you’re just curious or anything, you can of course just visit us to say hi! We won’t bite!
Regarding the future beta testing phase of Parallel Universes, it’ll be required to register an account there since I’ll create private sub forums when the times comes! Oh yeah, almost forgot, here’s the address!

Yes, Pokémon FireRed hacks are a dime a dozen. However, Pokémon Throwback doesn’t seek to be like the rest. This hack’s goal is NOT to rewrite the story, grant access to many full generations of Pokémon uncomfortably cramped into a single game, or increase the difficulty of the game. Wait…what?
Instead, the goal of Pokémon Throwback is simple: To make the most complete, featured, version-transcending, official-feeling version of the original 1st Gen adventure. Simply put, this hack, started two years ago, strives to be the quintessential version of Pokémon Red/Green/Blue/FireRed/LeafGreen.
With this hack, you’ll get access to all the Kanto Pokémon, with the Johto Pokémon as a post-game bonus. You will be able to listen to the original, 8-bit music and switch between the retro and advanced soundtracks at any time. Dress the main characters in their original outfits to heighten the sense of nostalgia. But that’s not all. Want decapitalized text? Throwback’s got you covered. Want reusable TMs and move tutors? IPS Peek Version 0.2.0

IPS Peek, the IPS (International Patching System) patch viewer, has been updated to version 0.2.0.
This version adds some nice new features such as:
- ‘Modified’ appears in status bar.
- Added ‘Go To Row’ and ‘Copy Row’ menu items.
- Added ‘Size (Hex)’, ‘#’ (row number) and ‘IPS Size (Hex)’ columns.
- ‘Size’ and ‘IPS Size’ columns now display in decimal.
- Columns can be reordered and hidden (by right clicking the column headers.)
- Exporting only exports visible columns.
- Export file format improved.
- ‘Data View’ bytes are no longer fixed to 16 per row.
- ‘Data View’ height is no longer fixed when window is resized.
- ‘Data View’ contains line and column information.
This is just the start of several new releases in the coming months, so keep a look out for updates.
7th Dragon Translation Release

As many people figured out, yesterday’s release of an Etrian Odyssey retranslation was an April Fool’s Day joke. However, there was a kernel of truth to the gag - a complete translation of 7th Dragon for Nintendo DS has been finished, and is available for download. It’s a terrific RPG well worth a playthrough.

After an enormous amount of quiet work, a definitive retranslation of “Etrian Odyssey” for Nintendo DS has been released - Etrian Odyssey Retold: Yggdrasil no Labyrinth. This version corrects many liberties taken with both the original 2007 translation and the 2013 remake and more faithfully renders segments that were eloquently, but loosely, translated in those releases. Additionally, an enhanced difficulty setting has been enabled to provide a truly old-school experience.

FF7Tools 1.0 Released

The (ingeniously named) FF7Tools 1.0 are now available.
FF7Tools is a suite of command-line translation and hacking tools for the PlayStation 1 version of Final Fantasy VII. It can be used for modding the game, searching for hidden content, and creating fan translations. The main focus of the tools is on the dumping and editing of in-game text.
This first public release of the tools fully supports the Japanese (FF7 International), US, and German PAL versions of the game.
Full Python source code and extensive documentation are included, and contributions are welcome - see the project’s GitHub page, below.
