Dark Half (SNES) Released by AGTP

24 May 2015 8:16PM EST - Update by Gideon Zhi

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

Long has been the wait for a completed Dark Half translation, but in association with Eien ni Hen and with the blessings of Klepto Software, Aeon Genesis has pulled it off! AGTP picked up Dark Half about nine months ago after Eien ni Hen talked about it in the Rom-Hacking Histories podcast. Hacking began in earnest when Eien ni Hen turned in a script about four months ago. The end result is the polished, high-quality, and hopefully bug-free translation available now! This one has been a long time coming, so please enjoy it!

Final Fantasy 7 - Retranslation Project (PSX)

17 May 2015 8:23PM EST - Update by Green_goblin

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

This is a complete retranslation and relocalization from the ground up, based on the original Japanese. The aim is to have an end product that is accurate and professional. Official sources have been used to minimize errors in context and spelling. The project’s name “Beacause” comes from a misspelling (in the original localization) in the only line spoken by Jenova.

[SNES] Super Shell Monster Story I aka Daikaijyuu Monogatari I translation released

17 May 2015 6:32AM EST - Update by taskforce

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

Dynamic-Designs has released a completed translation patch for Super Shell Monster Story 1 aka Daikaijyuu Monogatari. Super Shell Monsters Story is a classic turn-based RPG similar in style to the SNES Dragon Quest games with a style that is a bit more on the humorous side.

In a mystical world far away, a legendary race of beings called Shell Monsters dwell. These are not those sorts of monsters that threaten other life forms, though. Just the opposite. Instead, these special “people” live extremely long lives and enjoy mysterious powers that certain heroes – sometimes reluctantly – use against tyrants that threaten the peaceful existence of their World of Shelldorado!

Such a threat has arisen recently – a fiend known as “Fat Badger – and Elder Hermit Crab of Shell Village is about to invoke an ancient chant that elders must memorize, to summon a human hero from another world that is quite distant from Shelldorado. Soon, the perplexed would-be hero, whether he wants to or not, will embark on an ocean voyage in the flimsy Puka shell craft, hoping to locate his madcap shell hero companions who somehow seem to be drifting far afield from their assigned duties!

Special thanks to Byuu, DaMarsman, and Gerb for providing the original materials and early work that our patch is based on.

The Legend of Double Moon Translation Released

03 May 2015 12:51AM EST - Update by Pennywise

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

Stardust Crusaders presents another completed NES RPG translation for the unknown classic, The Legend of Double Moon. At its heart, it is a DQ clone, but it is much more than that. Featuring a unique aim system in battle, battles have an extra layer of complexity added to them. On top of the great story, the game has many hidden things for players to discover. But please be aware that this game is old school and features a high encounter rate, hard as hell enemies, and requires a lot of grinding.

As for the project, it was started years ago by Bongo` and was translated by aishsha. But the project lingered and eventually died. aishsha eventually picked the project up and redid most of the hacking aside from a few misc things. Pennywise lent his expertise as usual. Finally, Eien ni Hen edited the script and played through the game for us.

Enjoy this quality translation that was years in the making.

Dragon Force II Full English Translation Released

05 April 2015 5:55PM EST - Update by Verve Fanworks

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

Over eight years in the making, the Dragon Force II English translation is complete! The project has been a truly massive undertaking, combining the efforts of twenty dedicated storyline translators, an additional thirteen translators of gameplay text, a programmer, and a small army of script editors, tinkerers and testers.

Set 500 years after the first game, Dragon Force II follows a slate of monarchs who must band together to defeat a new threat looming over Legendra. Along the way, they learn the value of friendship and unravel the mystery of what happened to the original Dragon Force after Madruk’s defeat. The eight-scenarios approach and Strategy RPG formula will immediately appeal to fans of the first game.

Dragon Force II differs from the original in three significant respects. Most importantly, players can now assign two troop types to their generals for added gameplay depth. An item forging system puts greater focus on the spoils of war, and Sega of Japan assembled a crack team of voice actors to bring the story alive; with the English translation in place, the game has a subbed anime feel.

At this time, Dragon Force II’s FMVs remain un-subbed and the end-game credits un-translated, as FMV editing represents a new challenge beyond the scope of the project’s original goals. Hopefully these can be addressed in subsequent updates.

We hope Dragon Force fans will brave the challenges of Saturn emulation and the confusion that’s sure to arise from the game’s numerous prints to give the sequel a well-deserved spin! Here’s an hour’s worth of preview footage to whet your appetite, and head on over to the website linked below to get started!

Objection! English Translation for Gyakuten Kenji 2 Out Of Beta

11 March 2015 1:20AM EST - Update by SmashManiac

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

With the help of more than 50 major contributors and after almost 4 years of development including months of public beta testing, Auryn has released the final version of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth: Prosecutor’s Path, a full English translation of Gyakuten Kenji 2 for Nintendo DS.

Gyakuten Kenji 2 is a direct sequel to Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, which is itself a spin-off of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. It is the only game in Capcom’s popular Ace Attorney series of visual novels to never have gotten an official English localization.

This game features prosecutor Miles Edgeworth investigating a quick succession of murders, starting with the death of a bodyguard of the President of Zheng Fa during an assassination attempt. With the help of Detective Gumshoe and the self-proclaimed “Grand Thief” Kay Faraday, Edgeworth has to collect evidence and find contradictions in witnesses’ testimonies in order to reveal the whole truth about the murders while fighting the juridical system attempting to impede his progress. New to the series is the Logic Chess system where Edgeworth uses his wits to extract information from uncooperative witnesses.

Note that the RNDH Project Page can only host the XDELTA version of the patch due to file size limitations. For the BEAT version of the patch, check the relevant link below.
