It's for the Kids! - Super Wario Bros. 3 Censored Editon

15 August 2020 10:01AM EST - Update by Supergamerguy

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

The “family-friendly” alternative to Googie’s amazing original hack (Super Wario Bros. 3) is finally here! This addendum replaces all of Googie’s text changes with some different phrases that can appeal to a younger audience as well as a general one.

The idea first came from watching Blue Television Game’s (BTG) playthrough of it a few years ago and the desire to make a version that could appeal to his regular audience. Hope you guys find this helpful and a worthwhile redownload or replay!

Super Mario Kart - The Impala Battles updated

14 August 2020 8:20AM EST - Update by Ok Impala!

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

In 2002 Super Mario Kart - The Impala Battles was released. Back then it was the first Super Mario Kart mod to be released on Romhacking.net

It was the time long before Epic Edit saw the light of day, so editing Mario Kart was still a slow and difficult process. The limitations at the time caused some issues in The Impala Battles that couldn’t be solved.

Almost 18 years after the release of The Impala Battles, v1.1 finally fixes all the issues players had with the original mod. You can see this new version as a small appetizer to the release of Super Mario Kart - Epic Racers, which is nearing a finished state.

Until that release, please enjoy the classic Impala Battles once again with your friends!

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

Final Fantasy IV - Ultima version 11.1 has been released!

At last! A FULL PARTY SWAPPING support has been added!! You are now able to Swap Party Members among 10 different characters at endgame! Moreover, Dark Knight Cecil has also been added as a playable character at the end! On top of these, this update also includes a VERY CHALLENGING Boss Rush mode that can be unlocked for those that are up for the task! Other new additions include Magically Imbued Weapons, New and Upgradable Commands, Status ‘Aura’ during battle, Damage Limit increased to 14999, and much much more! And naturally, new weapons, spells, bosses and items have also been added to this update. Once again, huge thanks chillyfeez and the FF4 romhacking community for their magic on some of the amazing features added to this version. Barring bugfixes and other minor adjustments, this version should be VERY close to this hack’s final iteration.

Hope you’ll all give it a whirl and enjoy the hack tremendously!!

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions and/or comments! Cheers! :)

The First Completed Studio Ghibli hack ever! - Castle in the Sky (SMB1 hack)

26 July 2020 8:21AM EST - Update by Supergamerguy

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

Journey through the mysterious world of Laputa in this hack and help Pazu to rescue Sheeta and the pirates from the evil hands of Muska. Based on the incredible animated movie by Studio Ghibli, Castle in the Sky, this hack takes place entirely on the floating castle itself. You can run through the castle gardens, its walls, its massive forest, and the weaponized underbelly itself to defeat all of Muska’s minions and save your friends.

Almost every graphic has been changed to fit the Castle in the Sky aesthetic and incorporate its wide array of varied enemies. The most current version is V1.2, which fixes some graphical oversights of the previous versions and is, for now, the final and definitive version in regards to graphics.

Be on the lookout for some more hacking action in the future though! Who said Pazu ever had to journey alone? Maybe a friend can join in on the action and they can work together Co-Operatively to help save Laputa……

Super Mario Bros. 3: The Forgotten Worlds for FDS

29 June 2020 1:11PM EST - Update by szemigi

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

Hello everyone!

After 3-month development Super Mario Bros 3.: The Forgotten Worlds has now been released as a Famicom Disk System hack as well! In case somebody doesn’t know it yet, it is an unofficial expansion pack and sequel to Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels including a new character called Kevin (who is Mario’s and Luigi’s dream brother), 9 brand new worlds, new (and 1-2 resurrected) graphics, and many other features never seen in the previous two Super Mario Bros. games.

Big thanks to 4matsy for helping and code supplying, thanks to doppelganger for the SMB2J disassembly! And thanks for Szemigi for his enthusiastic effort that has been put into the project.

Also, this would be the first SMB2J hack that was created with doppelganer’s SMB2J disassembly.
