ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

Pokemon - Red VGC EX plus Alpha Edition has been released! This is the final version of a ROM hack made of Pokemon Red for the Gameboy system!

Here is a brief overview of what was changed:

  • edited the types of pokemon that appear on the title screen
  • edited the types of pokemon your rival collects at different points in the game ( only the starter is the same )
  • edited some of the gym leaders / elite 4’s pokemon and some of their moves
  • gym leaders give you the same TMs upon defeat…but you get 6 instead of 1 ( you can sell extra’s for money )
  • edited the casino prizes and cost ( different pokemon and items )
  • edited all of the in-game trades ( you get porygon instead of jynx )
  • edited the types of items all of the pokemarts sell ( most shops carry TMs now )
  • did a major edit of all of the wild pokemon encounters ( makes it a lot more fun to catch em’ all)

Fantasy Tactics 1.3 RELEASE!

10 December 2011 7:12AM EST - Update by Archael

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

Dear RHDN,

This is Archael from insanedifficulty.com and today I am proud to inform you that Final Fantasy Tactics 1.3 is available on RHDN! This is the granddaddy of Final Fantasy Tactics mods. It has been in development for a total of 4 years, going through various phases of ideology, polish, testing, and refinement

The end result is a difficulty, rebalance, gameplay, and content mod that will make you feel like you were playing this classic game for the first time at the time of its release over 10 years ago, while leaving the story, characters, and game script intact.

Generally speaking, 1.3 increases difficulty, adds over 300 new random battles to the world map and Deep Dungeon, lets you play Dark Knight, Onion Knight, improves monsters, and re-balances the skills and items to make the game more fun and challenging. It also gets rid of easy to abuse mechanics that let the player breeze through the games content without thought or challenge.

1.3 is available for both the Playstation and War of The Lions versions of Final Fantasy Tactics. Below are important relevant links that cover the data of the mod in its present state:

Enjoy all the work that has done into this mod, and feel free to browse the links if you have any questions, or leave your feedback here or on the official forum linked above.

Thank you.

09 December 2011 3:42PM EST - Update by Darkdata

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

It’s the holiday season again, and this brand new hack is great for anyone looking for something for the holidays.

Princess Daisy and Princess Peach take a quiet vacation in the Snowbite Kingdom during the holidays. Bowser seeing only the Princesses by themselves takes an opportunity to steal holiday presents from a small town! With no Mario and Luigi to be seen, can our Heroines save the day?

Can you find all the hidden Princess Power-Ups scattered throughout the levels?

Final Fantasy V Sound Restoration

30 October 2011 10:15AM EST - Update by Bregalad

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

The Game Boy Advance of Final Fantasy V featued a terrible port of the music, with aggressive instruments. This hack was made to fix this problem by re-inserting back the original SNES soundtrack in the GBA game.

In this version 2.0, the Final Fantasy V Advance Sound Restoration hack has been completely remade from scratch in a new version, using the same technique used in the Final Fantasy VI advance patch, where the soundtrack was entirely re-sequenced.

The hack also changes a few sound effects, and features a fully orchestrated introduction !

As a plus, this hack also greatly reduces lagging problems that were introduced by reducing the CPU usage for mixing sound. Now all spells will play their animations at the original SNES rate.
