Final Fantasy 2us/4j Medicine Power-Up Patch

23 March 2008 10:42PM EST - Update by Phoenix Hacks

ROM Hacks News

Anyone who has played FFIV knows that Edward’s Medicine/Heal command is pretty useless, since it splits a Potion among 5 people. That’s like sharing a slice of pizza with your whole family — and who wants to do that? So I’ve created a patch that will increase the HP recovery done by this command, into the 60-90 HP range. Now everybody can have a slice.

Staff - You can grab it here at RHDN.

Willow SRAM Hack

29 February 2008 6:01PM EST - Update by EnderWiggin

ROM Hacks News

I’ve been working on a Willow ROM hack that will implement a save game feature into a game that previously used passwords. I’m doing this just to take a crack at NES hacking, and because I read somewhere that Willow was supposed to use battery backed RAM, but instead used a password system in order to cut production costs.

I also want to implement a feature to “skip” the dialog text and also a “run” button. Source code will be freely available to help anyone else out there looking to play around with the good old NES.

Currently, I have completed my Proof-of-concept hack, and I now have a Willow ROM that allows saving current progress by pressing SELECT-B and resuming the saved game by selecting PASS WORD in the opening screen, or CONTINUE after losing all your HP.

Googie's Lolo 2 hack

28 February 2008 9:49AM EST - Update by Googie

ROM Hacks News

It’s finally done. Thanks to those who encouraged me to finish this hack. All the levels are edited to add more of an action oriented feel to Lolo2. Lolo fans will get their fix with this hack. There is now one more Lolo hack to add into the mix. Special thanks goes to bbitmaster for his editor Neptune. If it weren’t for him this hack wouldn’t exist. Enjoy…

Chrono Trigger: Prophet's Guile Released

14 January 2008 2:16AM EST - Update by ZeaLitY

ROM Hacks News

Chrono Trigger: Prophet’s Guile is a new story following Magus’s turbulent experience in Zeal as he dons the guise of the Prophet, curries favor with the Queen, and prepares for his second attempt at exacting revenge on Lavos. It’s full of graphical, level, sound, and design polishes and surprises, reflecting the cutting edge in Trigger hacking. The expanded ROM freezes in SNES9x at some point, so stick with ZSNES for the time being; sorry. It’s about two or three regular Trigger chapters long, and the first Chrono Trigger hack with a new story.

Rings of Power - The Hand of Nexus

14 January 2008 2:11AM EST - Update by Whipon

ROM Hacks News

Rings of Power is a very rare RPG for the Genesis console. While the game is very addictive, It will frustrate you with its very hard difficulty. Now you have lots of advantage. This hacked version lets you finish the game with a lot less problems than the original version. Any person that has played the game and couldn’t finish it must try this hack. I’m sure you will enjoy it. Whipon.

Secret of Mana - Hard Mode Hack

26 December 2007 8:30PM EST - Update by sdc

ROM Hacks News

Did you beat Secret of Mana for the umpteenth time again and said to yourself, “Man, that was so damn easy.” Yes? SO DID WE!

For this reason, a fan named “Masterflow” got himself to work editing the game. Enemies are now harder and have more HP, items became more expensive and even some nasty extras were installed. You will hardly play recognition. Towns and palaces which before were very simple will move on to absolute frustration. Are you anxious?

Then fetch the patch at hard-som.de and experience another adventure in the “hard” World of Secret of Mana.
