SMW - The Second Reality Project 2 Released

09 January 2007 1:45PM EST - Update by Nightcrawler

ROM Hacks News

FPI Productions has announced the release of one of the most diverse and unique SMW hacks seen in a long while. It’s also the sequel to a previous top quality SMW hack. Nothing like raising the bar for yourself! It’s got some of the most diverse levels I’ve seen in hack including a Kirby level, Sonic the Hedgehog level, and a Tetris level! I’m talking about SMW - The Second Reality Project 2!

The paltry two images shown here do not do this hack justice. You should head on over to the project’s homepage and check out the many screen shots there. This game has been hacked from top to bottom and much attention to detail has been paid here with all new backgrounds, levels, new music, a large diverse cast of enemies, custom blocks, story and more.

You’ll also find many bits of graphics from several other classic games along with plenty of secrets to keep you busy. It’s the coming together of many different things that makes for a nice melting pot of fun, although it can get difficult at times like most SMW hacks.

02 January 2007 10:48AM EST - Update by Jigglysaint

ROM Hacks News

Jigglysaint has released version 1.1 of his new Blaster Master hack entitled Blaster Master: Pimp your Ride.

The main feature of this hack is that 8 new upgrades have been added into the game, on top of the 7 that already exist. This makes for a combined 15 upgrades. What each new upgrade does is a secret. Most will be needed in order to finish the game.

The game also features level edits. The first two tank levels have been re-done, and the others have recieved minor updates in order to show off the new upgrade features.

MCBHacks back online with a new game!

30 December 2006 9:55AM EST - Update by Macbee

ROM Hacks News

After a looong time of rest, I decided to return to my ROM Hacks. In 2007 I celebrate nine years in this bizarre hobby and realized that I don’t want to quit it.

Most of you probably don’t know my work. I’m a kinda of a fraud… I have no idea of how people REALLY hack a game.. I just change some graphics and colors but I’m very happy just doing this.

This time I changed the visual of 1983’s “Mario Bros”, one of the first games for the Famicom and incredibly fun even for today’s standards.

Just because I’m silly with a capital “S”, I created the first Japanese commercial for the hack. You can check it out below and see how the game looks now:

http://www.tcheco.com/mcbhacks

The game isn’t available yet. But you can get it on 01-01-2007, when my new website will officially open.

Hope you like it!! Macbee

STAFF Note: You can check out the commercial he made for his hack via this youtube link.

Zelda: Link to the Past Gets Much Harder! And That's Not All!

11 December 2006 8:45PM EST - Update by Moulinoski

ROM Hacks News

With the purchase of the pre-order of The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker, a “hard-type” version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was included. It was titled Master Quest. It was the same story with different dungeons, usually harder.

I took this concept and adapted it to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Using Hyrule Magic, I have changed the dungeons around, making them harder than they were before, and I have also toughened up bosses by filling their arenas with obstacles, usually dangerous ones, or ones that will impede your immediate attack on the boss. (Look forward to the battle with Business Man Arrghus!)

The .zip file contains bonuses like changing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past’s Link to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s Link!

(NOTE: The readme says that there’s only two holes that lead to a debug room. I had forgotten about another hole, in the sanctuary that may also lead to a debug room. Either way, these holes are trivial and the player must be brain-dead to fall into them since the holes only appear at very safe places)

Luigi vs Mario: Dead but Released

06 December 2006 4:09PM EST - Update by DahrkDaiz

ROM Hacks News

Yes, I finally decided it’s time to release what I DID get finish for Luigi vs Mario. For those who forgot, this is the rundown:

Luigi vs Mario was going to turn into Mario Adventure 2. The premise of the game was going to be collecting green coins which would be used to open up new locations. World transitions would work by pipe levels. There would be no kings castles, no airships. just a long adventure. The maps were going to be free roaming also. Alas, my brother reinstalled Windows and over wrote my progress. What you have here is the final version of Luigi vs Mario BEFORE I started the free roaming maps. The Green coins are here and in almost every level I have completed.

Worlds 1-4 for Luigi’s side are complete, along with half of World 5.

worlds 1 and 2 are complete for Mario’s side.

PATCH TO SUPER MARIO BROS. 3 (PRG 0) (U).NES!!!!

NOTE: There are still lots of bugs in this hack, so save state often!

Super Mario Kart - The Impala Battles is a hack of Super Mario Kart in which the four battle tracks have been completely changed.
