After about two years of on and off work, the translation for the Japanese prototype of Monster Party is finished barring any text revisions. On a scale of 1 to 10, the difficulty in hacking the game was about a 1, but the real challenge lay in translating the game. Since the game featured numerous puns and references a non-Japanese person wouldn’t understand, we decided to take a localization approach to some of the text. The goal was to make the game funny for English players and we believe we have succeeded.
Anyhow, the purpose of this news post is to NOT release a translation patch. Ordinarily we would just release a patch, but this is a prototype and it has a slightly unfinished feel to it. Therefore, we want to go the extra mile and add most of the changes from the US ROM plus a few extra things as well. Once that’s a done, a patch will be released.
The purpose of this news post is not to tease people, but is rather intended to ask for help from skilled individuals. Unfortunately, this is new territory for us and we’re thinking that the best approach is to do a complete ROM disassembly and merge the two ROMs together. If anyone is interested in helping us, please let us know! Otherwise, it might take us forever to finish this as we have limited time and other translation projects to consider.

Today aishsha and Pennywise present to the community yet another NES RPG translation for your consideration. The game is called Shadow Brain and it is a 1st person RPG dungeon crawler. Stylistically it looks a lot like Megami Tensei, but it’s not as terrible and one might dare say is better. Anyhow, it’s a futuristic sci-fi RPG and there’s not too many of those on the NES.
The game is noteworthy for coming with a VHS tape that provided pretty much all of the backstory for the game. We’ve included a translation of the VHS in the archive. There is a digital copy of the video floating around the internet, but it’s terrible quality. We’d be interesting in obtaining the VHS, ripping the VHS and adding subtitles to it. The only problem is that we have no means to rip the VHS. If someone is willing to get a high-quality rip of the VHS, this side project could get off the ground.
It’s also noteworthy for having a JPOP connection with the band Alfee, who contributed a song to the OST and maybe might have had a hand in the game’s creation. But who really knows…
Anyhow, work on the project probably started around 2014 by aishsha after years of procrastination on it. Sometime later, the files were passed of to Pennywise and he finally finished it in 2016. A lot of hard work went into this translation as usual and we believe the quality shows. A big thanks for Ryusui’s help in translating the game. We’d also like the testers for their help in discovering our errors and helping us to polish the game.
P.S. We’ve got quite a few scanned manuals that could use a photoshop wiz.
P.S.S. Pro-bono website design?

Announcing the release of The 1957-1959 AIDS Pandemic. A hack of Dr. Mario for the NES. With changes to the graphics, text, and music, this is one of the most extensive hacks of Dr. Mario made yet.
in the year 1957, mankind was hit with an airborne version of AIDS that caused untold destruction in the 2 years that followed. Nuclear equipped ICBMs launched throughout the world as governments became desperate to regain control of the world, and people rioted and died in the streets.
Now, in the year 1959, civilization around the world has been reduced to nothing. Entire continents are bereft of all human life. Doleskonov Chechloromanov, a scientist in Russia has spent most of the pandemic using a drug called Mifepriston beat back inevitable death in himself and his patients. Unfortunately, it’s only a matter of time before they all die as well.

The Doraemon English Dub was on air. and Sky Yoshi made a new Translation! Doraemon is a NES game that was released in 1986 and it was based of a Manga and Anime series. This Translation is hardly inspired by the English Dub and Fan Subs. THe Gadget’s name was changed to all English, Characters are now smiling (Reverse Ristar!) and more! The Translation was done by Sky Yoshi and lot of people’s works, Thanks bud! Okay, that’s about it… So… Have fun with the Translation!
