Swapped the primary and alternative names. The original Japanese title should be used first with the translated title used as an alternate. The original name of the rom has been made the primary name. Kinda odd that the Japanese title makes more sense than the supposed translated title, but I didn't make the names I just swapped them lol.
  • Games
Just another name swap. The Japanese name is "Lipple Island" and I figure it should be the primary name and the translated name "Ripple Island" should be the alternative. :)
  • Games
The given name for this game was a translated name. The original name attached to the rom file and found elsewhere as the name for this game was not included except in the translation notes of which rom to use. I have made the rom name the primary name and the translated one the "alternative" name. I do believe that should be how it is. :)

Tomorrow's Joe translation released

09 May 2008 5:26PM EST - Update by Kitsune Sniper

Translations News

After who knows how many years, I’ve finally finished a new translation for Tomorrow’s Joe (Ashita No Joe), a semi-awful boxing game based on the famous boxing manga released in the 1970’s. The patch is 99% complete; the only untranslated bit is the scrolling title text that shows up when you first turn on the game. Everything else is finished. Be sure to use a rom with a header!

There may be some graphic glitches in the endings; they might be related to savestates, but I couldn’t verify it at this time. If you have any issues, be sure to contact me at my website.

Armadillo translation patch released.

16 September 2007 6:31PM EST - Update by Kitsune Sniper

Translations News

After several years and lots of procrastination, Armadillo has finally been released. The game is complete as far as I am aware, but there’s lots of unused text. If you find anything, let me know as soon as possible. You can pick up the patch here or at my site.

Dream Penguin Adventure updated

25 December 2006 5:53AM EST - Update by Kitsune Sniper

Translations News

The Dream Penguin Adventure patch has been updated to version 1.02. The only change in this version is one line I had forgotten to fix one pointer, and as such, the line was not displaying properly. This bug is now fixed.

Now, are there any other releases planned? Who knows. Maybe…

STAFF NOTE: You can find the patch on our site here or at the link below.

Vice Translations - not quite dead yet

03 July 2006 7:49AM EST - Update by Kitsune Sniper

Translations News

The good: I’m almost done with Samurai Pizza Cats/Kyattou Ninden Teyandee.

The bad: I couldn’t finish it before I left the country. Woe.

The ugly: Mexican elections were today, and it seems that we’re going to become the next fifth world country! Someone freakin’ give me a job in the US already!

Anyway. I’m being forced to leave my hometown for a few weeks (family stuff), so I couldn’t finish the translation before I left. I managed to finish reinserting close to 75% of the script for Kyattou Ninden Teyandee - all that’s left is the final four stages and the credits, as well as the title screen. Once that is done, I’ll work on a US version, since the show was broadcast as Samurai Pizza Cats with mostly made up dialogue. So the SPC version will have really bad jokes which reference the show and lots of obscure stuff nobody will get, and the KNT version will have some really bad Japanese jokes nobody but otaku will get.

It’s a lose-lose situation.

But yeah. I hate writing these things, so that’s it.

Karnov (NES) translation released

09 May 2006 7:45AM EST - Update by Kitsune Sniper

Translations News

I’ve just released my translation of Karnov, for the Famicom. The script was translated by Eien Ni Hen, and I got help from RedComet in locating the pointers. There’s not much to say, other than the game has three endings, of which I could only get one. If you have any problems, read the readme file for instructions.

Staff note: You can get the patch right here, from our database.

River City Ransom Zero updated

10 April 2006 9:19AM EST - Update by Kitsune Sniper

Translations News

I live. Sorta. I guess I’ll just quote myself.

First off, updated River City Ransom Zero patch. It only fixes the title screen. The hacking was made by a mysterious fellow by the name of z80 Gaiden, so give him props and stuff. You can get that here:

River City Ransom Zero on ROMhacking.net

Secondly, the same guy helped me with Nettou The King of Fighters ‘96, and provided me with the means to change the title screen, so there may be some hope to that project getting completed! (Screenie is here.)

Thirdly… uh, I ain’t dead yet.
