Update By: Gideon Zhi

Kitsune Sniper retires from romhacking today (or so he claims, but we all know how that goes) and in so doing, releases patches for two games that he's been working on for quite some time.

The first of these is the NES Samurai Pizza Cats game. It should be noted that this was produced in isolation from the other Samurai Pizza Cats translation, and includes a lower case font, text compression for an expanded script, and two distinct patches - one with a more literal translation, and one with a more true-to-the-spirit-of-the-TV-show localization. He's been working on this for many years, and it deserves a look!

The second of these is for a beatemup called Sengoku, which Kitsune freely admits is terrible. But to each his own!

Samurai Pizza Cats!! Man, I used to watch this when I was like... 5... or younger... ._.

I might give the TV show version a try ;)

One thing I forgot to mention in the news post is that the TV show version's title screen includes a remixed US TV theme song (courtesy of optomon!) to replace the original Japanese theme song, which you have to admit, is pretty goddamn neat.

Not sure if it's deliberate, but this is missing form that first post:

How does it compare to the arcade version? Even that version was nothing special, but it was tolerable if you just felt like getting through an arcade game or something.

I can only guess it wasn't that great if Data East bothered to create an official translation and then never release it. :D
(Someone auctioned off a US proto a few years ago and that's the last we heard of it.)

Kit released a 1.01, since he apparently hadn't used the best dump for the game. Can someone update the page for the project?

Do I just leave most of the stuff in the "submit file" thing blank (title screen, screenshots, etc), since it's not a new entry? There's nothing on there that says anything about updating patches, which is why I posted.

Did you somehow never see the plethora of [ EDIT ] links available on every entry page on the site that have been there for the past 5 years?  :o

Click the appropriate [ EDIT ] link on the entry's page (all form fields will be populated with the entry's data) and stick in the new file URL, reason for the edit, and submit. It will take you all of 30 seconds. :)

I knew you could edit the pages, but I wasn't aware that editing pages was how you update patch versions and whatnot.

Edit: There 'ya go.

I bet all of the people over at Edoropolis Emporium(if there are even that many people left) are throwing confetti and dancing around like the Berlin wall fell down. Ironically this was the first game I tried hacking and translating on my own years ago, but I eventually figured out I'm not that good at rom hacking. Good to know this finally got an English release so I don't have strain my brain trying to read Japanese. ;D

There already was a translation of the game before this one. Granted it wasn't very good, but a translation nonetheless.
