Update By: Pennywise

Today Pennywise et al present to the masses more translations. This time it's the FDS version of Gyruss and the obscure GB game Battle of Kingdom.

Gyruss had been a backburner project for several years that recently all the pieces fell into place to complete it. This release would not have been possible without the help of rainponcho, who provided compressions tools for the font. The rest of the work was completed by Pennywise and Ryusui.

Also included is a bonus patch for the GB game Battle of Kingdom. Not much to say on that one.

Keep an eye out for cool releases this summer. The summer's bound to be eventful.

i can't seem to find a rom with the same crc which is posted in the info. the rom from the no intro set has crc D2A68BDF and i've downloaded lots of roms from different sources and they all have the no intro crc which i already have.
is it ok to patch the no intro rom without issues?

I made the patch based on an FDS image with no 10 byte header. If you load up the image in a hex editor and see FDS at the beginning, then it has a header.

just done that and it did indeed say FDS at the beginning.  could you please let me know if there are any simple tools to remove the header from fds roms?

This removes 16-byte header.

I think it's simple enough to use a generic hex editor to cut out the first 16 bytes manually, but the above can work too, I guess.

Would anyone who has looked into how Battle of Kingdom plays entertain us a bit about how the game goes? I'veonlyfound this video so far (of the Japanese version):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ssP8K6DNmY
That video isn't a big showcase because the player chose a sloppy slow slime. I know slimes rock in other games, but here they mean you need to press that turbo button or be bored waiting to reach the end of the map. Lesson learnt.  8)

EDIT: OK. I've run it on BGB. Looks to me like the whole entire set of commands you have are:
- move forth
- attack while staying put
- "?" I don'tknow what that one does
- heal (even beyond starting HP??)
- mega super power - err, push opponent back?
Those are selected via left/right, triggered via "A" I think. The rest of the grand user interface for the game uses "B" to select a different monster from your roster, START to select and go with that monster, or "A" and up/down during the initial purchase.

Am I missing anything?

Why choose "boardgame" as genre for this one, over "action" or anything we may have close to "side-scroller"?
