That Chinese translation of Grandia contains a full PSX BIOS dump (with a modified font) inside.  :police:

Wow, the submission indeed been scanned through by moderator before approve.  :o
What I mean is that you all really look what is inside the submission files before approve it.

Might as well get rid of the whole moderation/Queue thing anyway since it doesmn't do much other then hold-up releases, there have been countless times that ROMs, pre-patched ROMs, links to torrents sites that are "piracy" etc. that get missed, just have people report and flag them afterwards.

That's no different then modified ROMs, aka pre-patched.

You could make a patch for the BIOS, but still, that would make it emulator-only*, which I think isn't allowed on this website.

* Unless you can modify the BIOS on real hardware somehow.

to my knowledge it's possible to flash a chip and piggypack a new bios into hardware, but in all honesty, that's beyond the skills of the normal user.

a hack requiring a custom BIOS should by all means classified as emulator only.

Step back and think about that for a moment. You're only going to see what gets through. You're never going to see the improper submissions that don't get approved. Submission reviewers (thank you Zynk ) are human and do make mistakes, but most stuff does get caught.

And it's true that we only dig so deep. We don't apply the patches or inspect their contents. We wouldn't know that the patch contains a full bios dump (I don't even know how to confirm this). This is where the "community maintained" aspect of RHDN comes in. To that end, thank you mz! I would like to learn a little more about how you identified that the full (modified) bios was contained in the patch, though.

In cases where you see something like this, feel free to flag the submission as non-compliant and enter any information staff may need to look into the issue. And yes, a BIOS ROM is still a ROM.

i swear to god the last time i looked at the page of this submission it stated on the description in plain english that a custom bios is included with it. The text ain't there anymore though.

Looks like a staff member updated it to remove the bios. You're not crazy.
