Translations: Utawarerumono Translation Released
« on: February 11, 2008, 10:10:12 am »

Update By: KaioShin

mirror moon and Soylations released a complete English translation of the SRPG/Visual Novel Utawarerumono. Here is the original release notice:

Quote

Utawarerumono translation patch has been released!

While I consider this an open beta release because it did not undergo the same level of internal proofing as our other releases, please play and enjoy it to the fullest!

The release is currently compatible with the PC DVD version.

There was already an update to patch 1.1, which fixes some small errors caused by an old line inserter.

Staff Note: We can't host the patch here on RHDN, if you'd like to play the game, head over to the mirror moon website. They also list sources where you can buy the game from.

Why isn't RHDN allowed to host it?

It's probably huge. Other than that, maybe the author specifically requested that RHDN not host it.

Yeah, it's pretty huge, but mirror moon in general doesn't want us (or any other site that I know of besides visual-novels.net) to host their patches.

The game is really good by the way, finished it earlier today.

It's listed as both a visual novel AND an SRPG. What exactly is SRPG about it?

In between the story there are numerous normal SRPG battles with the usual genre stuff. With leveling up, turn based battles, healing, magic and all that stuff. It might take more than an hour of text between two stages (hence it's definitely still a Visual Novel), but it's also a full fledged (albeit basic) SRPG with 25 stages or so.

Anyone knows where I could see screenshots of the SRPG part? I had a quick look at the translation's site but didn't find any.

I made two, one of the character selection (usually you can't chose everyone like in the screen), and one from a actual battle.

Ooooh... it looks pretty damn cool! How about the difficulty? Is it one of those super easy games or does it provide at least a semi-decent challenge?

It has 4 different difficulty settings, I'm sure the higher ones will pose enough of a challenge. I played it on the easiest (wanted to enjoy the story mostly) and it was a breeze.

Maybe this weekend.

It is worth mentioning that this is an H-game, as well, with startlingly inappropriate H-scenes tacked on out of nowhere.

Seriously, completely out of nowhere.  It feels like they went back and added them after the game was done.  You can just speed through them (hold alt to rush text), though, since they have no relevence to the plot whatsoever.

I've been looking all over the place for that god damn font (the one used on the title screen and battle conditions text)! It was used in a lot of console games last gen.

What is it called?
