Utilities: Scrubby OSX Sprite Viewer / Editor
« on: February 26, 2008, 08:56:38 am »
Update By: Matthew Callis

Scrubby is a tool to (eventually) edit sprites and other data in ROM files for OSX. There's wasn't an all purpose tool for this for OSX and I missed YY-CHR so I started Scrubby. Scrubby currently supports the following ROM image types:

  • Nintendo / Famicom Disk System (2BPP)
  • Super Nintendo (3BPP, 4BPP, 8BPP*)
  • Game Boy (2BPP)

Right now all you can really do is view sprite data and save it, but I am finishing up editing the data. So far:

  • Display ROM sprite data
  • Save sprite data (PNG)

   To-Do:
  • Edit Sprite Data
  • Import Edited PNG File
  • Add other image formats

Staff Note - You can also find this archived here, currently categorized as a graphics viewer so as not to confuse the kids.

I strongly suggest getting rid of the console names for different graphic formats. It always confuses the new people to think those are standards, when it's just a common thing among many games of a console.
All my posts are merely personal opinions and not statements of fact, even if they are not explicitly prefixed by "In my opinion", "IMO", "I believe", or similar modifiers. By reading this disclaimer you agree to reply in spirit of these conditions.

What would be some useful names? I'm open to any and all suggestion about anything. I didn't really know how else to differentiate them all so I took the most common format.
