Translations: ZyuRangers Released

Update By: danke

Ahhh! After 10,000 years I’m free. It’s time to conquer Earth!

Not really…

The translation for Kyoryu Sentai ZyuRanger (Kyouryuu Sentai Juuranger according to GoodNES) is finally released.

The characters may look familiar to you, as this is the Japanese/original version of what would eventually come to America as Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.

Enjoy this fun little platformer.

Hey, I thought this was a pirate-only game! (I'd only seen it in multicarts). Sweet.

I must say visually speaking, it does look fantastic.

Go Go Power Rangers!!

I used to watch that so much back when I was a kid (man, that sounds eerie). I remember dressing as the "OMG-GREEN RANGER!!" for Halloween and all the kids in school were like "OMG-GREEN RANGER!!".

Yeah, Green, not White. That's how long it was, although White came soon after, I guess.

Hey, I remember this game. I helped translate the tiny, tiny script. Nice to see that it's been released!
Soon the super karate monkey death car would park in my space. But Jimmy has fancy plans... and pants to match. The monkey clown horrible karate round and yummy like cute small baby chick would beat the donkey.

Wow, good luck getting anywhere in this game!  It's pretty funny that the game thinks it's helping you by taking away your very usefull gun and giving you tiny useless knives.

The "Sabre Daggers" are stronger than the gun... but their range is limited. So, you just have to be more careful. It's just the first stage with the Yellow Ranger, anyway. Plus, you don't have to go into the door and upgrade the weapon, you can skip out.

And, if you get all your medallions, if refills your health completely.

Reminder: The yellow ranger is a guy in Japan.

I hate to nitpick, but it looks like there's enough screen space for the text to be shifted up so the 4th line of text doesn't touch the bottom of the screen. I dunno if such a hack is feasible, but I ran into a similar problem where the text wouldn't display properly if I moved up the text, but I was able to fix that.

IIRC, if you move the text up a line, it picks up the palette data for the graphics and looks...nasty.

Red is right. If the text is shifted up, it corrupts the bottom 2 pixels of the images. I think it looks fine the way it is.

I know about the safe areas (I worked in Broadcasting)... Regardless, it wouldn't be that easy of a hack, considering the geniuses that programmed the game in the first place. I recall trying to move everything up a line or two, and even that lead to palette problems, and graphic corruption.
