Amending my review due to misconstruing what the patch does, at first. I assumed one of the patches retained the armor graphics and changed the palette, which it actually doesn't do.

Metroid Quest

Hack of Metroid

Description:

This is a 95% graphics hack of the NES game, “Metroid.” There are minor level layout adjustments also. The game features Link (instead of Samus in suit) and a slightly modified Kid Icarus (instead of Samus out of suit). The enemies vary from games like Zelda 2, SMB 2, SMB 3, Megaman, and a few others.

Just a lazy sprite hack

Reviewed By: Satoshi_Matrix on 25 Feb 2013

There are many excellent Metroid ROM hacks - sadly this is not among them.

This one replaces the Metroid sprites with those from other Nintendo properties. It might seem amusing for a few seconds, but the novelty quickly wares off and you’ll be finding yourself less interested as it goes on. The level designs are lazy, and the pallets used are ugly to boot.

Check out Metroid X and MDBtroid if you want a decent Metroid 1 hack. This one isn’t worth your time.
