Changed author "kmikz" to the group names in the "Authors" field, since it was a translation made as a collaboration of lots of people, envolving three different brazilian romhacking groups. The other members will be added as credit entries. NOTE: I had to reupload the filename with another name, since I was getting the error "Invalid File Extension in URL". Probably due to the filename having lots of spaces and special characters. Renamed it to a simpler name (ZMC_PT-BR_RC1.7z).

Super Mario Land X

Hack of Super Mario Land

Description:

Super Mario Land X is a full level hack of Super Mario Land for the Gameboy. It replaces all 12 levels with new layouts, bonus rooms, power-up locations and enemy locations.

The aim was to create a version of SML which still feels new and interesting to those who are very familiar with the original game.

The hack contains a ‘normal’ mode and a ‘hard’ mode. The ‘normal’ mode is kept to a difficulty level which is reasonably similar to the original. The ‘hard’ mode is much more difficult than the original.

Hard Mode, not so much...

Reviewed By: Ziko on 03 Apr 2018

Don’t go into this hack thinking that it’s a typical level hack. The author made two separate patches and those basically amount to different level designs and difficulty setting. The Normal patch more or less is the same difficulty of the original Super Mario Land. Hard Mode is anything but. What I encountered in my playthrough, was almost Kaizo style levels with unfair enemy placement, a lot of holes and gaps that can kill you from simply slipping through them, and the fact that there’s a heck of a lot more enemies than normal as well.

With a little tweaking, perhaps I’ll try again but for now the Normal difficulty is satisfying me. I felt slightly discouraged as my Mario skills are on point but not with the Hard Mode patch they are. On a positive note, this graphics hack patch is compatible with this as well: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1314/ Just make sure to apply this one after the X patch.
