Good stuff!

It’s a great hack, pretty much every change here is for the better. I absolutely recommend checking this out even if you disliked the original. That said, a few things could be improved still:

  • Spindashing into a regular walls sends you bouncing back quite far which can be disorienting or break your flow a bit
  • I felt triggering the spindash was a bit too rigid - you have to be completely still and not in a slope or it doesn’t happen. It also takes a little bit longer to start revving than in the sidescrolling games.
  • If you touch Knuckles with less than 50 rings, you lose all rings (however you only need to collect the difference to enter the bonus level afterwards), which can create difficulty spikes in some levels
  • I would’ve preferred to have flickie’s be drawn towards sonic by default since it breaks your flow a bit when you have to stop and catch each one.

Huge thanks to Jon for making this.
