Changed author "kmikz" to the group names in the "Authors" field, since it was a translation made as a collaboration of lots of people, envolving three different brazilian romhacking groups. The other members will be added as credit entries. NOTE: I had to reupload the filename with another name, since I was getting the error "Invalid File Extension in URL". Probably due to the filename having lots of spaces and special characters. Renamed it to a simpler name (ZMC_PT-BR_RC1.7z).

Zelda II - The Triforce of Courage

Hack of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Description:

After months and months and months of on and off grinding at it, this hack is officially complete which is called The Triforce of Courage. Here’s what you can look forward to in this hack.

The best from ShadowOne333 & Njosro hacks which include the following:

  • Manual save with 1st controller
  • Manual save no longer count towards death counter
  • Can continue after Game Over or Manual Save from palace
  • Life Meter HUD now displays hearts
  • No longer lose experience from enemies
  • The hack also uses the awesome sprites from Revility’s Rev Edition hack.
  • Most enemies have more HP, but as a plus, they give out more experience points.
  • It cost more to level up, but as a bonus, your sword is ever stronger and your magic costs less at level 8.
  • Bosses have more HP and give more experience in this game.
  • You start the game with the Downward Thrust
  • Once you have the spells, Shield, Reflect, and Fire are combined into 1 spell
  • Overworld has changed quite a bit. Palace maps are the same, but rooms have changed.
  • There are a number of shortcuts including in the Great Palace.

As for a hint: With grinding and the right items and patience, it’s possible to have all 8 MAGIC & LIFE containers as well as all 8 spells before you beat the 1st palace. It’s hard but possible.

The best hack I've played so far

Reviewed By: Logi on 31 May 2018

Graphics and Sound: Huge plus for the graphics. There are some errors from time to time however this hack makes up for it by including beautiful sprites for Link and the enemies.

Overworld: While it has some interesting mapping, what completely takes me out of it is when the rocks are formed like letters. I don’t want to read “DARK LINK” or “ZELDA AND LINK” when I walk around. The area right before the cave to the great palace crashed multiple times but there is an easier way around it that involves walking on water which makes this gauntlet kind of superfluous.

Palaces: They’ve all gotten a nice makeover. Especially the enemies roaming them. Instead of just yellow, red and blue Iron Knuckles, there are also purple versions that are even tougher.

Difficulty: The hack gives players a steep difficulty spike however this is only at the beginning and after upgrading the sword (which doesn’t take long), it’s fair. I especially liked how the spells were redesigned to make the game far more enjoyable. The shield spell automatically gives link shield, reflect and fire, meaning he takes half the damage, can defend himself from axes and reflect magic attacks and shoot fireballs.

When I died in this hack, I always felt that it was my fault and not the game’s.

Summa Summarum: In my eyes, this hack is better than the original and you should definitely give it a go.
