Fire Emblem: Thracia 776

Super Nintendo

Game Description:

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 is a turn based strategy game for the Super Nintendo.

Translation Description:

Thracia 776 has long been the FE community’s white whale, but not anymore. Project Exile is a full translation patch which affects all chapters, all menus, all items, all epilogues, the intro and outro crawl, the world map, and much more. It makes Thracia 776 playable in its entirety, and was created using the remnants of Kirb’s patch as a foundation and merging Zane Avernathy’s menu translation with it (as well as receiving considerable technical advice from him).

In addition, the script has been written from scratch, using a new translation done by Cirosan. In the spirit of transparency, complete PDFs of the entire script can be found via a link in the Readme.

Also of note is the inclusion of Robert of Normandy’s Unit Ordering Patch as an optional add-on. This allows the player to reorder the deploy menu, allowing you to freely reposition units in later chapters, just as later Fire Emblem games allow. To use this add-on, see the included Readme.

Project Exile represents a grand collaboration between many people from across the world, none of whom have ever met in person. The translation team consisted of people from throughout the United States, France, and Austria, who all pooled their expertise and talents to make this patch a reality.

The FE community's white whale

Reviewed By: Dzumeister on 26 Jul 2019

It cannot be overstated how amazing it was that the community around Fire Emblem was able to come together and translate this game. From the script, to the menus, to the graphics… everyone on the list of credits deserves the best for the dedication and testing it took to complete this hack. Everything looks professionally done, and if you didn’t know any better, you’d think this was an original localization by Nintendo. The game should speak for itself; it plays well like every Fire Emblem game, and it definitely lives up to its reputation as one of the most challenging in the series. It’s gorgeous, and this patch stands as a testament to the hard work that various hackers and fans around the world put into a game that they love and hold dear. There should be way more reviews on RHDN on this just to give them more of the credit that they deserve.
