Hack of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Description:

This hack was originally called –Zelda Shards of Might–. It was made by Omega and SePH, But unfortunately it was bugged. Zelda didn’t appear in the guardhouse. This could be fixed, but the forest dungeon was heavily bugged. The game was unsolvable.

Luckily Francais from France removed those major bugs. He called the hack –Zelda Link to the future Chapter 3–. But the game was still bugged. You get Zelda at the beginning, but when you talk to your uncle, she disappeared. Some entrances were switched, which would result in false game play and all jumps diagonally-down would crash the game.

You can’t rescue Zelda since there is no staircase that leads to the priest, so the rain never stops and the palace guards didn’t disappear. The game was again unsolvable.

Removed all mentioned bugs and have made new gameplay. Two dungeons were extended. There were also crash bugs inside the dungeons. All this was fixed.

Sometimes, the logic of the dungeon was false (some key doors were optional or there would be a key behind the key door). Plus, you really don’t know if you should search for pendants or crystals. All this was fixed.

A Couple Tweaks But Damn Good

Reviewed By: Rabbi Raccoon on 05 May 2020

I thoroughly enjoyed this, start to finish. You definitely need to pause and think to figure out what to do several times, but no puzzles felt too difficult. They were quite creative, especially with the blue and orange orbs. I loved the progression. Heart Pieces are pretty easy to find if you do even a little bit of exploring. Dungeons are creative and you can’t really snooze your way through them. I understood the lack of dungeon maps, from what I understand the dungeon maps in this game are very difficult to change. I did have a few issues, though.

It felt like I was expected to know the exact route to take. If you take a wrong turn in a dungeon, the backtracking had a tendency to be quite long, especially if there was a puzzle you would have to redo or a spike maze

Statue pulling puzzles didn’t wear out their welcome, but ended up just being tedious. Going with the above note, I had to do one of them twice due to taking a wrong turn, and it involved going back and forth with the Hookshot quite a bit just to move the statue one square. It was an easy puzzle to solve, just tedious. The earlier ones were much better

Something the creators really relied on was illusions. Oftentimes you’d find yourself at a dead end and the solution would be to lift or use the hammer on an inanimate object with no indication that you could. Or at least any indication or hint that I found.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a challenge or even inspiration for their own hacks. There’s a ton of great stuff in here.
