It’s not unusual to find the EXE we’re trying to hack is compressed/encrypted. This invalidates debugging for instance.
PEiD detects most common packers, cryptors and compilers for EXE (PE) files. It can currently detect more than 600 different signatures in PE files. Plus, it features a plugin system which allows one to add more decryptors for example.
