Super Metroid - Pantheon

Hack of Super Metroid

Description:

This hack is NOT a skill based hack, hell, its not even a hard hack, its aimed at those of you have beaten Super Metroid, and want to play a little more, but ALL those other hacks are to hard;) That being said, there’s still plenty of tricky puzzles for you experts, so give this a go either way, you will not be disappointed. Thanks for playing, good luck, and MOST importantly, have fun!;)

SKILLS NEEDED: Wall-jumping, Mid-air morph-ball (w/ bombing)

MISC: There are no save stations except your ship, so that means using Save-states. I’m sorry if you don’t like using them, there is a very good reason for not having them. The reason is the escape timer. If you save during an escape, and reload it, the timer is gone! SO, the only way to fix this in such a large scale exploration hack, is to get rid of save-station.

Includes a patch for a Headered ROM & Un-Headered ROM.

This game frustrated me in quite a few places. I wasn’t prepared with all the necessary Samus-dexterity-skills I guess are now commonly well known with such an old and played out game. I thought save states would be enough but they definitely weren’t. Even with some youtube research on the skill sets I couldn’t pull off some of the moves. I finally threw in the towel at super dash-jump to ball while maintaining speed all within a confined height of 4 to 5 tiles.

squishy_ichigo says this is easier then most hacks. Yes the enemies aren’t too difficult and he does give you a good weapon/armor/item progression, but this isn’t for the noob gamer. Like he said, this is geared toward people who’ve beaten this game many times and need to stretch their skills that much further. Also be prepared to backtrack a lot and keep notes along the way.

Even though I gave it up, I’d still recommend this for those that aren’t as terrible as I am at this game.
