Final Fantasy VI Relocalization Project

Hack of Final Fantasy III

Description:

The Final Fantasy VI Relocalization Project is an attempt to “relocalize” the Super Nintendo game Final Fantasy VI in a way that the original localization team might have done, if they had more time, ROM space, and freedom from censorship to do better.

This hack features a completely new script based heavily on the GBA translation, completely uncensored graphics, a fancy new font, dozens of bugfixes, full descriptions for all items and spells, and a variety of other small fixes and tweaks to make this the best possible version of Final Fantasy VI without altering the actual gameplay in an appreciable way.

Archive contains patches for both headered and unheadered ROMs.

ROM / ISO Information:

  • Final Fantasy III (U) 1.0
  • Either HEADERED or UNHEADERED

Not just another revision/bugfix patch.

I love the direction taken with dialog in this hack. Great pains seem to have been taken to make sure everyone stays in character and their voice is consistent throughout. Even if the script is based on GBA, this hack noticeably brings in content from all other translations out there to great effect. The extra dialog was used very well, and the font actually looks a lot better in motion than the screenshots let on (the main textbox font is actually FFVII’s). Also, this probably has the most bugfixes in one patch out of all of the patches (on RHDN at least). Every fix I can ever remember being made is in here, including a couple more.

Where Ted Woolsey Uncensored preserves the feeling of the original SNES translation, this brings in something both truer to form and a more stable gameplay experience as a whole. Recommended to play at least once.
